Overview
Bhairab Kunda Trek is yet another adventurous pilgrimage trek in Nepal. Bhairab Kunda lying on the Northeast of Kathmandu valley near the Tibetan border is a wilderness and pilgrimage trek. Bhairab Kunda a lake lying at an altitude of (4,250m.) is one of the religious lake in Nepal. In the month of Bhadra at a full moon day a festival is held in Bhairab Kunda during which many Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage visit the Lake. The lake is named after the Hindu deity Bhairab who is considered as destructive image of Lord Shiva.
Bhairab Kunda trek start after you drive 81 km north east of the Kathmandu valley to a place named Jalbire. From Jalbire you trek all the way through the old trading route from Nepal to Tibetan Border. En route you will visit small villages mostly inhibited by Newars, Sherpa and Gurung. Here you will get an opportunity to experience the typical culture and explore the beauty of the region. The Bhairab Kunda trekking trail will take you through pristine forests of oak and Rhododendron which is home to variety of flora and fauna including the endangered one like red panda, snow leopard, Himalayan black bear etc. trekking trail passes through some exhausting and steep up hills up causing altitude sickness to the first time climbers. This trek offers some incredible mountain views of the spectacular mountains like Dorje Lakpa (6966), Madiya (6257M) and Phurbi Ghhyachu (6637m)) in Jugal Himal range and close up view of different Tibetan plateaus and Glaciers.
Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu (1,310m.)
Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport transfer to your hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing / Cultural Day in Kathmandu Valley
Half day sightseeing around Kathmandu where your guide will escort you on a tour of Buddhist and Hindu temples and shrines reflecting ancient local traditions. There is time to explore the city many places of interest on your own or take a rest while trekking permits are finalized.
Day 03: We drive from Kathmandu to Jalbire camp
Day 04: We trek from Jalbire to Kartike camp
Day 05: We trek from Kartike to Gump than
Day 06: We trek from Gump than to Cho lame camp
Day 07: We trek from Cho lame to Chhaker Makker camp
Day 08: We trek from Chhaker makker to Bhairab Kunda
Day 09: We trek from Bhairab Kunda to Forest camp
Day 10: We trek from Forest camp to Bagum
Day 11: We trek from Bagum to Dugana Ghadi
Day 12: We trek from Dugana Ghadi to Forest camp
Day 13: We trek from Forest camp to Dugana Ghadi – Dhulikhel. From Dhulikhel we drive back to Kathmandu
Day 14: Free at Kathmandu, evening together farewell dinner to say good bye
Day 15: Departure, Transfer to Airport for your onward destination
